The Journey Begins

Julian Behrens, the creative force behind Prototype Audio, recalls the humble beginnings of his audio journey: "I remember when it all started with a DAW CD that I got from inside my favorite Kellogg's Cornflakes." This serendipitous encounter with music production software sparked a passion that would shape his future.

Evolution

After completing a Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Julian honed his skills through collaborations with audio industry giants. His impressive résumé includes work with renowned companies such as ReFX, Akai, Eventide, Heavyocity, and Safari Pedals. These experiences provided invaluable insights into the audio industry and helped shape his vision for his own brand. Prototype Audio represents Julian's first personal project, born from his passion for modular gear and hardware systems - analog inspiration and digital innovation.

Vision

The latest offering from Prototype Audio, Fusion, embodies the team's philosophy of pushing the boundaries of analog sound in the digital domain. The plugin's character is rooted in extensive experimentation with analog hardware, aiming to unlock new dimensions of tonal coloration and character. The goal is always to have fun while creating music. - Passion and the tools you love are the best catalyst for creative output.

future?

"I think interesting stuff happens on crossovers - music with other things like art, and having a more fun approach to music - experimenting with sound and rhythm in general. "This genre-agnostic approach informs the versatility of Prototype Audio's products, designed to inspire creativity across musical boundaries.

"It's all about the process. Thats why it's called prototype audio."

Prototype Audio has exciting plans on the horizon. The team is currently developing a synthesizer, which promises to bring their unique approach to sound design into the realm of software instruments.
